The Met Office are about to upgrade the warning from yesterday to an 'Amber' level for snow mainly for the western half of the Scottish Borders from 5pm this evening until 10am tomorrow, travel may be disrupted and we would advise that you tune into Radio Borders for the latest travel updates as we will be linking up with them and providing information from the Bunker at Council HQ.
The latest weather update can be obtained from http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/Given the increased likelihood of frequent, heavy snow showers to affect Dumfries & Galloway, Strathclyde, the southern Highlands, much of Perth & Kinross, Forth Valley, west Fife and western parts of the Lothian & Borders during this evening and during Thursday morning, the forecasters have decided to issue an Amber Warning for Snow (based upon medium likelihood of medium impact) across these areas. This is likely to be valid from 1700 this afternoon through until around 1000 on Thursday morning.
